An Auckland immigration and family formation practice needed new pages, a new section, four articles published and one funnel retired — on a bespoke WordPress theme with no page builder, where every change is a template change.
New practice pages, a biography and an achievements carousel on Family Formation, four articles published and linked to the services they explain, a restructured menu, a retired enquiry funnel removed everywhere it appeared, and a mobile pass across the site. No page builder, no new plugins, no second visual system bolted onto the first.
The firm had work the site did not describe: a service for other immigration advisors, a mediation offering, a family formation practice with real precedent behind it, and a set of articles sitting unpublished. It also had a booking funnel it no longer wanted. All of it had to land on a bespoke theme, without the site starting to look like two sites.
Stewart’s Achievements sits directly above the firm’s Google Reviews. Two carousels on one page would have argued about arrows, spacing and how they behave on a phone — so it is not a second carousel. It is the one the theme already loads, given new cards.
Each card carries an outbound link — the Law Commission surrogacy review, RNZ, Newstalk ZB — so a claim about precedent can be checked by the person reading it rather than taken on trust.
There was no documentation and no handover — only a live site, a list of things the firm wanted, and a theme that had to keep working afterwards.
The site runs a bespoke theme with no page builder, so a new page is a template change rather than a drag and drop. The first pass was an inventory of what the theme already renders — heroes, practice-area tabs, sliders, cards — so new work could be assembled from it.
Stewart's Achievements needed to scroll like the reviews block right below it. Instead of adding a carousel library, it reuses the slider the theme already loads, so the two blocks share arrows, rhythm and mobile behaviour by construction.
Four family formation articles went onto the News page and were linked from the matching practice-area cards, so a visitor reading about surrogacy has somewhere to go and the article has a page to send them back to.
Retiring Book an Assessment meant more than deleting a page: the menu entry, the buttons pointing at it and every stray reference had to go too, then the site had to be walked again to confirm nothing still pointed at a page that no longer exists.

What WordPress maintenance costs in New Zealand in 2026, what a care plan actually covers, and what it misses — with three Auckland WordPress sites we support as evidence.

Yes, and that is the usual case for WordPress support work. Where there is no page builder, a new page is built from the theme’s own templates and components, so it inherits the site’s typography, spacing and mobile behaviour instead of introducing a second visual system. For Dalley Sundar that produced a For Advisors page, a Why Choose Us subpage under Your Team, and a Mediation page the firm can publish when it is ready to launch that service.
Yes. This site was already live on a theme built by someone else, with no handover documentation — the situation most website support requests arrive in. Work is quoted in hours against a scope you approve before anything starts, and invoiced once it is done.
