MyPDFDone: A brand identity for PDF tools that show the price first.

MyPDFDone lets you compress, convert, merge, sign and edit a PDF in the browser, see the result for free and pay only for the file you keep. We built its identity on that promise: a document that has been checked, a mascot that smiles with the same check, one green, and a voice that says the price and stops.

MyPDFDone brand guidelines cover: a glass app icon with the green checked-document mark above rolling hills of paper printed with “Read, Edit, Organize, Share” and “A kinder way to PDF”, with the headline Honest by design
Direct answer

Our own identity for honest PDF tools — designed, written down and running in the product.

MyPDFDone is an identity system by 99 Francs for its own online PDF tools: a checked-document logo that becomes the mascot Kind, paper and ink with one green, Geist and Geist Mono, 27 tool icons in nine colour tones and a voice that leads with the price. It is documented as a 21-sheet brandbook and runs across the live site.

The idea

A promise before a logo.

Most PDF sites let you do the work, then ambush you with a trial that never ends. We show the price before you start, let you see the result for free, and charge only for the file you keep.

That manifesto opens the brandbook. Three words under it decide every design question.

Honest

One price, shown first. No “Free” buttons that aren’t free, no timers, no fake scarcity, no renewals in small print.

Plain

Paper and ink, one green. Words a tired person understands at midnight with a deadline in the morning.

Kind

Files deleted in two hours, refunds in one click, and a friendly face when something goes wrong — never a scolding.
How it was made

From a product that disagreed with itself to one system.

The product came first, so the identity started with what was already on screen — and ended with rules the screens could follow.

01

Audit

We read the live product as a stranger would and listed seven places where the design disagreed with itself: three button styles competing for “the” action, two greens doing two jobs, nine tool hues diluting one brand colour, mono type doing too much.

02

Three directions

Receipt honesty — paper, dashed rules and stamps, the price as the hero. Glass and spectrum — frosted surfaces and light only where you act. Loud green — full-bleed colour, black type, huge numbers.

03

The system

The decisions written down as a 21-sheet brandbook: idea, logo, mascot, colour, type, icons, components, voice and applications, each with a rule you can check a layout against.

04

Into the product

The same tokens run the site: Geist and Geist Mono, Signal #22C55E for the task, Leaf deep #15803D for type and links, and a tinted icon tile on every tool page.

02 — Mascot

Meet Kind.

Kind is the mark with two eyes. It shows up where a product needs warmth — empty states, errors, success, the app icon and campaign key visuals — and never on checkout or legal pages.

Happy · Default

The check became a smile.

Kind is the mark with two eyes: the check shrinks into its smile. Four moods cover every state a file can be in — pick one.

03 — Colour

Green is an accent, not a background.

A layout carries about 60% paper, 25% ink and only 8% Signal green — if a screen looks green, there is too much of it. Nine tool tones help people find a tool by colour, and stay on icon tiles and header glows.

04 — Typography

One family. Contrast from weight.

Geist for every word in the product, with tight tracking on headlines. Geist Mono for prices, receipts and file sizes — mono means “this is a fact”. The second line of a headline goes extra-light and green.

05 — Iconography

Find a tool by its tile.

A 24-unit grid, a 1.75 stroke, round caps and joins. Converters share one idea: a sheet with the format glyph and an arrow coming in (PDF to format) or going out (format to PDF).

06 — Components and voice

Say the price. Then stop talking.

One primary action per screen: prism for brand moments, Signal green for the task, ink for paying. Labels say exactly what happens — never “Free”. Short sentences and real numbers, with no urgency and no exclamation marks.

07 — Applications

Where people meet it.

Business cards, a receipt email, out of home and social. Feed posts carry one message and the price whenever it fits; a story tells one small story — the problem, the honest fix, the price.
Out of home

The brandbook’s cover line, at street scale.

A bus-shelter poster keeps the system to three things: the promise in Geist with a green first line, the paper hills from the guidelines cover, and the mark with its name in mono.

A MyPDFDone poster in a bus shelter on a sunny street: Honest by design. over green paper hills printed with Read, Edit, Organize, Share, and the mark with MyPDFDone / Honest PDF tools
MyPDFDone applications: business cards, a social post, the app icon, an out-of-home poster reading $2.99 and done, and a receipt email
MyPDFDone Instagram feed posts around a phone: Preview free, a $2.99 receipt, tool chips, Kind on green and No trial, No renewals
MyPDFDone Instagram stories in three parts — the problem, the fix and the price — beside the profile grid
In the product

The same system, live.

The site uses the brandbook’s own tokens: the mark in the header, Geist headlines with a green second line, the price in every hero, and each tool on its tinted icon tile.
The MyPDFDone homepage: the headline Any PDF task in a few clicks, a No subscription traps badge, the Choose a tool button and an editor preview with tool tiles
MyPDFDone pricing page: Pay for the file you need. Nothing else. Cards for a single file at $2.99, a pass, Pro monthly and Pro yearly
MyPDFDone Compress PDF page: the violet Compress tile, an upload box with a green Choose a file button and the line Preview first, pay $2.99 only if you download
MyPDFDone homepage on a phone: the headline, the No subscription traps badge and the Choose a tool button
MyPDFDone Compress PDF page on a phone: the violet tool tile, the upload box and the green Choose a file button
What the system holds

Small enough to remember, complete enough to build with.

27

tool icons, one family

A 24-unit grid and a 1.75 stroke. Every converter is a sheet with the format glyph and an arrow coming in or going out.

9

tool tones

Gradients that help people find a tool by colour. They live on icon tiles and a page’s header glow, never on text, buttons or the logo.

4

moods for Kind

Happy by default, a wink for success, busy while a file is processing and oops for an error. Never on checkout or legal pages.

Case study FAQ

Questions about MyPDFDone.

Online PDF tools — compress, convert, merge, split, rotate, sign, edit, protect and OCR — that you try for free and pay for per file, from $2.99, with no hidden subscription. 99 Francs designed the brand and builds and runs the product.
No. It is our own product. We designed the identity, wrote the brandbook and built the site that uses it. Running our own products is how we test our branding and product work against real use.
A logo built on a 32-unit grid with lockups and misuse rules, the mascot Kind in four moods, a colour system of paper, ink and one green with nine tool tones, Geist and Geist Mono type with a hierarchy, 27 tool icons, call-to-action rules, a voice guide and applications from business cards to Instagram stories.
The mark is a document with a check on it — a file that has been dealt with. Add two eyes and the check reads as a smile. That gives the brand a friendly face for empty states, errors and success screens without a second drawing to maintain.

Yes. We run the same process for clients: an audit of what you have, a few directions to choose from, then the system written down as a brandbook and applied to your product and marketing. See branding, logo design and brand guidelines.
